“How do I know if I got Hepatitis from eating those frozen berries and which berries are the ones to avoid?”

February 20, 2015 by Heniti Buick Leave a Comment

Due to risk of contamination with Hepatitis A, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) has issued a recall notice for the following frozen berries: Nanna’s Mixed Berries (1kg bag) with best before dates up to and including 22/11/16; Nanna’s Raspberries (1kg bag) with best before dates up to and including 15/09/2016; Creative Gourmet Mixed Berries ( 300g plastic bags and cardboard boxes) with best before dates up to and including 10/12/17; and Creative Gourmet (500g plastic bags and cardboard boxes) with best before dates of up to and including 06/10/17. Hep. A is a viral condition that affects the liver, but the good news is it doesn’t cause lasting liver damage like Hep. B and Hep. C does. Foods can become contaminated with Hep. A if they’re grown or washed in contaminated water, or handled by someone who is infected with hepatitis A. Symptoms of Hep. A infection can include fever, nausea, dark urine, abdominal pain, and yellow eyes and skin. If you think you may be infected, speak to your GP. More information about this product recall is available on the FSANZ website http://www.foodstandards.gov.au
