Leftovers should be stored in a sealed container within 1-2 hours of being cooked and can be kept in the fridge for 3-4 days. Unused raw meat should be consumed within 2 days of being opened from the packet, with the exception of cured meats such as bacon and salami which can be kept in the fridge for a week.
Placing foods in vacuum bags and sealing them extends the time you can keep them in the fridge but a good option is to freeze leftovers to have for a meal on another night. Most leftovers can be kept frozen for up to three months. Freeze leftovers in sealed containers or freezer bags and freeze raw meat in the original packaging to avoid contamination.
