“Is dark chocolate really good for you?”

April 29, 2014 by Heniti Buick Leave a Comment

Most brands of dark chocolate have just as many calories as milk chocolate, and just a small amount can provide you with the same amount of energy as a whole meal! Compared to milk chocolate, dark chocolate contains more phytonutrients; chemicals in food which help to keep us healthy and may help fight off disease. Most of us are also less likely to overeat when it comes to dark chocolate because of the bitter, less sweet taste compared to milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is also seen as a luxury item so people are less likely to overindulge. Given this information, you could consider dark chocolate a healthier choice compared to milk chocolate but you should still try to limit how much you consume as it’s easy to exceed your daily calorie intake when you eat energy-dense foods like chocolate.
