“What’s your opinion on having a “cheat day” when trying to lose weight?”

May 7, 2014 by Heniti Buick Leave a Comment

There is mixed opinion on whether allowing a “cheat day” helps people stay on track with losing weight. I believe having a “cheat day” risks people binging on high-calorie foods, which results in a massive energy surplus that makes it harder to lose weight. Instead, I recommend to my clients that they pick one day per week where they can enjoy one small, portion controlled treat.

It’s important for people to realise that there is an allowance for consuming the occasional high-calorie treat food, even when trying to lose weight, but this needs to be in moderation and balanced with an otherwise healthy diet.
